Fairy Anemone – a variety, new to our shores, of an uncommon anemone

Congratulations to Robert Durrant for finding, researching and beautifully photographing the rare anemone, Aiptasiogeton pellucidus var comatus.  His was an excellent piece of determined detective work.  

Thanks also to Robert for giving it the rather friendlier name of Fairy Anemone.

The story, carried here in the North Devon Journal,  has travelled around the world.  DWT's Dan Smith says it supports North Devon's case for Marine Conservation Zone designation.  Amen to that, I say.
